| Flying Ears

The Flying Ears are a team hailing from DeKalb, IL. The team was founded by Mary Beth McGill in 2009. Mary Beth, a swim instructor, loved water and sports and became involved in dragon boating when she was invited to put together a team for a nearby festival. In 2011 as the team began seeing success she was diagnosed with lung cancer, after being a non smoker her entire life. Mary Beth passed away in 2012 but not before she saw the team she had created win the finals at the festival that began it all. Her remarkable spirit, love for life and the true meaning of team togetherness live on today in the Flying Ears and our sister team Paddlin’ For MB.
