Flying Ears


The Flying Ears are a team hailing from DeKalb, IL. The team was founded by Mary Beth McGill in 2009. Mary Beth, a swim instructor, loved water and sports and became involved in dragon boating when she was invited to put together a team for a nearby festival. In 2011 as the team began seeing success she was diagnosed with lung cancer, after being a non smoker her entire life. Mary Beth passed away in 2012 but not before she saw the team she had created win the finals at the festival that began it all. Her remarkable spirit, love for life and the true meaning of team togetherness live on today in the Flying Ears and our sister team Paddlin’ for MB. As the club continues to grow we honor Mary Beth and we carry our club motto on our backs because No one Fights Alone. Kim :

From the shores of Lake Minocqua, atop a tall hill covered in mushrooms, comes a gang of family friends ready to paddle. We gather on this FUNgi-filled shore to support the Howard Young Foundation and compete for first place.
