The Aspirus Water Dragons includes Aspirus Health employees and their families from across our system. We’re beginners and we plan to showcase how a group of individuals from north central Wisconsin can come together for a terrific cause.

The Samuels Group is a commercial general contractor and construction manager serving the Midwest. We have been honored to serve Howard Young Medical Center for nearly two decades. Our dragon racing team is excited to participate in our 4th annual dragon racing event, seeking a fun and active day of team building to support the Howard Young Foundation. Looking forward to paddling hard, having fun and enjoying the journey.

We are a group of men and women who just started paddling together this summer. With a varied level of experience, we are giving people an opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of dragon boating in a fun Northwoods environment.

This is our 3rd year participating in the Dragon Boat Festival. Our team is made up of co-workers, family, and friends of Trigs. We look forward to seeing everyone in Minocqua for this great event and we can’t wait to go head to head with our co-workers. Paddles up!

The Flying Ears started as a dragon boat team in 2013 and is recreational/competitive team, from Sycamore, IL, that has gone through a lot of reorganizing in the past two Covid years as have many teams. We have raced Minocqua in the past and has become our favorite race venue supporting a great cause. We are so happy to have a resumption of racing in Minocqua this year.

Island City Dragon Boat Club was formed in 2015 in conjunction with the establishment of the Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival held in 2016. The team began as a mixed team and changed to a women’s team in 2017.
The club based in Minocqua, Wisconsin, has approximately 30 members, and is coached by Mike Mondrall.
The Island City Dragon Boat Club is dedicated to teaching and training adult women from the greater Minocqua, Wisconsin area and surrounding counties in the sport of dragon boat paddling and dragon boat racing. Island City raced at the USDBF Club Crew National Championships in 2021 and the IDBF Club Crew World Championships in 2022.
Island City Dragon Boat Club started a mixed youth program in 2022.

The future of dragon boating is bright with this newly formed team in the Lakeland area. With help from the Island City Dragon Boat Club, this young group of dragons was “hatched” in 2022. This mixed youth program is based in Minocqua, Wisconsin, is coached by Mike Mondrall. This team is excited to roar with the dragons!

We are a mighty composite team representing the La Crosse Mississippi Sisters and Team Survivor Madison. We have each heard the words “You have cancer” and journeyed down difficult paths. We have chosen to turn this challenge into stories of personal surTHRIVorship through dragon boating and building a supportive community for cancer survivors. Members of this team will be competing in the IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival in New Zealand in Spring 2023! Paddles up!

The WXPR Radio Waves is excited to be part of the Festival. Our WXPR Public Radio volunteers and friends are on a mission to have fun and support a good cause at the Festival! WXPR’s mission is to inform, entertain, and engage our community; enrich lives with music, information, and interaction; and build positive lasting relationships.
